  Hospice Quilts

  Sewing Meetings:   Every Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon. You may also sew at home and deliver to a coordinator. If schools are closed due to weather, the group does not meet.

  Where:  Hiland Cottage, 1 Hiland Drive, Petoskey

  What we do:  We make lap quilts for McLaren Hospice patients, both those at home and those in the hospice facility. 

  Specifications:  Quilts should be approximately 36 in. by 48 in.

  Our program this month will be a very special version of a show and tell...

  We are asking everyone to bring one quilt with a short story about it….their first quilt if they still have it, a family heirloom, a quilt that got you through a difficult time, one that you think it is ugly but was a gift so you can’t get rid of it, the dog chewed a hole in it and you patched it , the “what was I thinking” when I made it quilt , the first quilt you received a ribbon for (quilt show fair…) or just a quilt with a short story you would like to share.

  Quilts of Valor 

  The Quilts of Valor group meets once a month on the 4th Friday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the  Friendship Centers of Emmet Co. in Petoskey. 

  We make quilts and present them to veterans who have served in any branch of the military.  We are affiliated with the national Quilts of Valor Foundation.

  Please bring a sewing machine, extension cord, your personal sewing supplies, and a willing heart to honor our Veterans. Bring a lunch or lunch is available at the center for $3.00. Some quilt kits are available or you may choose one of your own, we have lots of fabric.
  

  QOV patterns, fabrics, and guidance for following the Quilts Of Valor Foundation requirements are available at the workshop days. If you choose to make a top at home, please use quilt shop quality fabric in patriotic colors. Do not use fabric with metallic, glitter, florals, or religious themes.
