  Hospice Quilts

  Sewing Meetings:   Every Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon. You may also sew at home and deliver to a coordinator. If schools are closed due to weather, the group does not meet.

  Where:  Hiland Cottage, 1 Hiland Drive, Petoskey

  What we do:  We make lap quilts for McLaren Hospice patients, both those at home and those in the hospice facility. 

  Specifications:  Quilts should be approximately 36 in. by 48 in.

  LOCATION CHANGE - MAY 16th SESSION ONLY

  Due to new floors being installed at the Petoskey Friendship Center, we will be meeting at the Charlevoix Public Library and sharing space with the Friday Open Sew group in the community room; from 1-4pm as usual. We will resume at the Petoskey Friendship Center in June. 

  
  

  FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY -- We meet on the third Friday of each month from 1-4 pm at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Please  join us. There is lots of room to work; new members to meet; lots of tips and sharing and always a fun demo.

  We are always looking for folks to share a short demo. Please let Tresa or Jan know, if you have something you would be willing to share. It may be something practiced, to you, but new to someone else, we’d like to see it.

  Quilts of Valor 

  The Quilts of Valor group meets once a month on the 4th Friday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the  Friendship Centers of Emmet Co. in Petoskey. 

  We make quilts and present them to veterans who have served in any branch of the military.  We are affiliated with the national Quilts of Valor Foundation.

  Please bring a sewing machine, extension cord, your personal sewing supplies, and a willing heart to honor our Veterans. Bring a lunch or lunch is available at the center for $3.00. Some quilt kits are available or you may choose one of your own, we have lots of fabric.
  

  QOV patterns, fabrics, and guidance for following the Quilts Of Valor Foundation requirements are available at the workshop days. If you choose to make a top at home, please do use quilt shop quality fabric. Do not use fabric with metallic, glitter, florals, or religious themes. Please use patriotic colors.

• July Annual Summer Picnic

  SAVE THE DATE: LTB Quilters Guild Annual Summer Picnic

  Our picnic will be held this year on Thursday, July 10th 11:00-2:00 at the Depot Beach Pavilion in Charlevoix. Please bring your own lunch and beverage. Dessert will be provided.

  We have planned a game that requires you to bring one yard of fabric. Not just any fabric, one that you would like to have in your stash! We are calling our game "To Die for Fabric to Exchange or Steal". Please roll your fabric in a paper towel tube shape. Wrap the fabric allowing a little bit of color to show at one of the ends. Of course, there will be Show and Tell to conclude our picnic.

  Please Note! This takes the place of our evening Guild meeting.

  Kori will be doing a trunk show for us on Thursday, August 14 and teaching a quilt/stitching class on Friday, August 15.

  Kori Turner Goodhart - Boyd's Barn Swallows Quilt Class

  In this class, you will be making Boyd's Barn Swallows - a fun little quilt. Learn Kori's flip and stitch method and her favorite embroidery stitches. Bring your buttons to trade with your fellow quilters.  Project will include quilt piecing and embroidery stitching. 

  Class cost is: $30

  Pattern cost is: $10

  Kit cost is: $80 (includes pattern, fabrics and floss)

  You do not have to purchase the kit, you can use your own fabrics, but you will have to purchase the pattern.   ‘Quilts on the Runway’

  
  

  Guests are welcome! Members will bring a dish to pass; sign up at a meeting for what you'd like to bring. 

  Not to rush summer, but to get a head start on planning for the September Tea, we need your help.

  Look in your closets for handcrafted quilted jackets, coats, vests, and any quilted accessories, hats, handbags, totes, etc. You know, “Wearable Scraps”! The program for the September Tea will be:

  “QUILTS ON THE RUNWAY”, an eclectic quilted style show!

  Jan and Tresa will have sign- up cards at the next couple of meetings. We will need to have information about what inspired you? Was a pattern used? How was the item constructed? And whether you wish to model your item(s) or have someone else do it for you.
